Guatemala City wheelchair access travel

Guatemala City is the capital and largest city of Guatemala, and the most populous city in Central America. The city is located in the south-central part of the country, nestled in the mountainous Valle de la Ermita valley. It is estimated that its population is about 1 million. Guatemala City is known for its Mayan history, high-altitude location and volcanoes. On central Plaza Mayor, also known as Parque Central, the Metropolitan Cathedral is full of colonial paintings and religious carvings. The National Palace of Culture overlooks the square. South of the city, trails lead up to the active Volcano. Guatemala City wheelchair access is of a poor standard.
